Mechanisms of Action

  1. Cellular Stimulation
Indiba radiofrequency therapy utilizes a specific frequency of 448 kHz, which is optimal for promoting cellular activity. This frequency enhances the permeability of cell membranes, facilitating the exchange of ions and nutrients. As a result, cellular metabolism is boosted, leading to increased energy production and more efficient cellular repair processes

    Capacitive Mode (CAP):
This mode focuses on the superficial layers of tissue, primarily affecting the skin and muscles. The 448 kHz frequency generates mild, controlled heat, increasing blood flow, enhancing lymphatic drainage, and promoting tissue oxygenation. This leads to reduced inflammation, improved nutrient delivery, and faster waste removal from cells.

    Resistive Mode (RES):
The resistive mode targets deeper tissues such as ligaments, tendons, and joints. It works by increasing the resistance of the tissue to the RF current, generating heat in these deeper layers. This deeper heating effect promotes collagen production, enhances the elasticity of connective tissues, and accelerates the healing process by stimulating cellular repair mechanisms.

We can also use both of these modes at a sub-thermal level, which means we can achieve many of the same mechanisms of action without producing heat which is of course beneficial in injuries or conditions in the acute stages of healing, where heat would be detrimental or in tendon or ligament which are extremely sensitive to heat and in fact, if temperature in these structures should exceed 37 degrees, we can cause denaturation which is essentially structural damage.

  2.  Enhanced Blood Flow
One of the primary mechanisms of Indiba radiofrequency is the improvement of blood circulation. The therapy induces vasodilation, which is the widening of blood vessels. This effect increases blood flow to the targeted tissues, delivering more oxygen and essential nutrients while removing metabolic waste products. Improved circulation not only supports tissue healing but also reduces edema and swelling, which are common in inflamed or injured areas.

  3.  Reduction of Inflammation
Indiba radiofrequency therapy has significant anti-inflammatory effects. It modulates the inflammatory response by reducing the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and increasing the production of anti-inflammatory cytokines. This shift helps to alleviate inflammation, reduce pain, and promote a more balanced immune response. By controlling inflammation, the therapy aids in the recovery of tissues and prevents further damage.

  4.  Pain Relief
The reduction of pain is another critical mechanism of Indiba radiofrequency therapy. The therapy achieves this through several pathways:

Endorphin Release: The therapy stimulates the release of endorphins, which are the body’s natural painkillers. Increased endorphin levels lead to a reduction in pain perception.

Nerve Modulation: Indiba radiofrequency can modulate nerve activity, decreasing the transmission of pain signals to the brain. This effect provides immediate pain relief and improves the horse’s comfort.

  5. Tissue Regeneration and Repair
Indiba radiofrequency therapy promotes the regeneration and repair of tissues by stimulating fibroblast activity. Fibroblasts are cells responsible for producing collagen and other extracellular matrix components essential for tissue integrity and strength. Enhanced fibroblast activity leads to the formation of new, healthy tissue, replacing damaged or degenerated tissue. This is particularly beneficial for conditions like tendon and ligament injuries, where strong, resilient tissues are crucial for recovery.

  6.  Increased Stem Cell Proliferation
The therapy creates a conducive environment for stem cell proliferation. By improving blood flow and reducing inflammation, Indiba radiofrequency supports the activity and migration of stem cells to the injured areas. Stem cells play a vital role in tissue repair and regeneration, contributing to the overall healing process.

  7. Improved Lymphatic Drainage
Indiba radiofrequency therapy enhances lymphatic drainage, which is essential for removing excess fluids, toxins, and metabolic waste products from the tissues. Improved lymphatic function reduces swelling and supports the body’s natural detoxification processes, contributing to faster recovery and reduced risk of infection.

The unique feature of Indiba RF therapy is its limitless penetrative depth due to the closed circuit created by the electrodes. This allows the RF energy to reach both superficial and deep tissues without losing efficacy, making it versatile in treating a wide range of conditions, from surface-level inflammation to deep-seated injuries.

What Clinical Conditions Can it Help With?

1. Musculoskeletal Injuries

Tendon and Ligament Injuries - not just distal limb! Consider also sub-lumbar sprains and thoracolumbar sprains: Horses often suffer from tendon and ligament injuries due to their intense physical activities. Indiba radiofrequency promotes collagen production and accelerates the repair of these connective tissues, reducing recovery time and improving the strength and elasticity of the healed tendons and ligaments.

Joint Injuries (OCD (Osteo Chondritis Dessecans), Synovitis, Joint Effusion, Navicular, Fractures, Bone Spavin, Meniscal Tears) : For joint injuries, the therapy helps reduce inflammation and pain while promoting the regeneration of cartilage. This is crucial for maintaining joint function and mobility, which are vital for the horse’s performance and overall well-being.

2. Osteoarthritis and/or Sacroiliac Dysfunction

Osteoarthritis is a common degenerative joint disease in horses, causing pain and reduced mobility. Indiba radiofrequency therapy alleviates symptoms by reducing inflammation, enhancing blood flow, and promoting the repair of joint tissues. These effects lead to decreased pain, improved joint function, and a slower progression of the disease, thereby enhancing the horse’s quality of life.

3. Wound Healing

Horses are prone to various types of wounds, from minor cuts to more severe injuries. Indiba radiofrequency therapy accelerates wound healing by stimulating cellular activity and increasing blood circulation. This not only speeds up the healing process but also reduces the risk of infection and minimizes scar tissue formation, ensuring better recovery outcomes.

4. Back Pain

Back pain in horses can stem from various causes, including muscle strain, spinal issues, or poor saddle fit. Indiba radiofrequency therapy provides pain relief and reduces muscle tension, leading to improved flexibility and mobility. By enhancing blood flow and reducing inflammation, the therapy also aids in the healing of underlying issues contributing to back pain.

5. Laminitis

Laminitis is a painful and potentially debilitating condition affecting the hooves of horses. Indiba radiofrequency therapy helps manage laminitis by reducing inflammation and pain in the affected areas. Improved circulation promotes healing of the hoof tissues, while the anti-inflammatory effects help prevent the progression of the disease.

6. Suspensory Desmitis

Suspensory desmitis, an inflammation or injury of the suspensory ligament, is common in performance horses. Indiba radiofrequency therapy enhances the healing of the ligament by promoting collagen production and reducing inflammation. This leads to stronger, more resilient ligaments and a lower risk of re-injury.
